Harvest festival
Aluva: In reminiscence of Aluva traditions the solidarity youth movement organized a harvest festival in Keeramkun in Aluva. This was held in connection with the harvest of the five acre paddy fields which solidarity had taken up for farming. Farmers were honoured in the ceremonial occasion. Globalization has had a very negative impact on the agriculture sector in Kerala, opined A.M Yousuf MLA and member of the Legislature Environment Committee of the state. He also suggested that legislation be made to protect the farmers at the National level.M.H Abdul Raheem Solidarity District President presided over the meeting. Renowned environmentalist C.R Neelakantan gave the keynote address. Keezhmad Panchayat President KA Basheer, Jamaat-e-islami district president VA Ibrahimkutty offered felicitations. M.Y Abdul Nasser, Solidarity Aluva Area President welcomed the gathering.
The second stage of rice cultivation taken up by the solidarity Keerankunnu local unit was commenced as part of Aluva regional conference of Solidarity. Self sufficiency in food grains of the region is the goal of this initiative according to Convener of the cultivation CS Sayed. The seed sowing was inaugurated by solidarity state representative council member MP Faisal. District committee member NA Zakkariya, Area committee member Rasheed Thottumugham were also attended.
