Muthalamada:Fifteen years waiting of Chemmananthode colony residents for electricity is to be realised. Thanks to a popular struggle led by the Solidarity Youth Movement and Action Council. Government has decided to provide electricity in the region in response to a week long agitation. Immediate action was taken in this regard as agitators warned of taking out a march into a Government function to declare whole the district as electrified.For many years, residents of this colony have been denied of several basic facilities; even not providing land titles and ration cards. Agitators were carrying out a strike in front of Muthalamada village office in support of Solidarity when electricity officials announced the decision to allocate power. Muthalamada A.E, Natarajan visited agitators at their strike tent with direction from K.S.E.B deputy chief engineer.Officials later declared that electricity will be availed to the residents on bond and collecting signatures in stamp papers of 50 rupees.Expressing happiness in the decision, Solidarity workers and residents of Chemmananthode colony took out a procession at Kambrath Challa. Inaugurating the procession, M Sulaiman, District President of the Solidarity said that success of this struggle indicates that any authority can not turn down popular agitations. People's struggles will not end until all rights will be recovered, he said.P Lukhman, District Secretary of the Solidarity presided over.
